Client Success

We're SALT Architects, an architecture practice in our 25th year - there are seven of us working at the business. Like a lot of practices our size, we never formally set up HR. But as we grew and the business structure changed, we realised we needed to put something in place.

Initially, we had a large firm looking after our HR matters however, we preferred the idea of more local bespoke HR support rather than generic advice/information.

Having a personal relationship was a big factor for us. Natalie took the time to get to know the practice, and we’ve got to know her too. From initial discussions with Natalie you could feel the experience behind her. She’s matter-of-fact. Every time we’ve approached her for advice, she’s cut straight to the point.

We know our own trade inside out, but none of us are HR experts, and we'd never claimed to be. Natalie gave us clarity. She tells us plainly where we stand and what our options are, so we can make the call and stand behind it. It's given us confidence in all HR matters. It helps that she’s local, too, and she’ll come in rather than doing everything over Teams. If something crops up, she hits the ground running. We’re a small practice with fairly small HR needs, so that flexible, ad hoc approach suits us perfectly.

The next step is Natalie coming in to talk to the staff directly, and I’m looking forward to that. Having an experienced outside voice in the room gives us a fresh perspective and ideas we might not land on ourselves. That's exactly what we wanted from her.

For a practice our size, she’s a great fit. We needed someone flexible and adaptable, an outside company we can talk to on a level, and that’s what we’ve got in Natalie.

When we were setting up Women of Our Time, we knew we needed more than just HR advice - we needed a trusted partner who could help us build our organisation on strong, ethical foundations. Our mission is to support women navigating redundancy, grievances, and employment rights, so having the right policies, processes, and expertise behind us was essential.

Working with Natalie has been transformational. She helped us set up our Business Support Hub, ensuring all the right HR policies and procedures were in place so it could run smoothly and within the law. She also guided us through creating our volunteer programme, Donate an Hour, developing everything from onboarding to codes of conduct so volunteers could join with confidence.

What stands out most about Natalie is her balance of pragmatism and empathy. She’s up to date with legislation, challenges us in ways that help us grow, and takes a coaching approach that empowers us while keeping us compliant. She’s approachable, direct, and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Because of Natalie’s support, we now have robust, legally compliant processes and policies that give us and our clients confidence. Her advice has helped the women we support navigate complex workplace situations with clarity and reassurance. We trust her completely and would recommend her to anyone who wants practical, ethical, and effective HR support.
